Feeling discouraged?
Believe me when I say that the job search process can feel like being run over by a truck.
Almost everybody feels discouraged to some degree at some point in a job search campaign.
You're trying to measure up to what can sometimes seem like an arbitrary set of standards (how is five years of experience
better than four-and-a-half?). Sometimes you just want to scream, "I can DO anything, and LEARN anything I need to learn, if you'd just give
me the job!"
I can imagine how you feel, but let me encourage you to take a longer view of things.
If you avoid the five critical mistakes, and you follow the 7-step
plan (starting wherever you have to), you CAN have an outrageously successful job search.
Just remember at every step along the way, you're worth something. Those companies that don't hire you are missing out on
a great asset - YOU!
I know it feels miserable after the fifth, or tenth, or twentieth rejection. As painful as it is, that's part of this process. I encourage
you to fail fast, and move on to the better opportunity that's just around the corner.
If you keep that attitude, you'll find yourself in the job of your dreams (or at least a good one for now) before you know
it.
Don't settle for a mediocre job or career. Go for what you want. You CAN do it...if you decide not to give up.
Winston Churchill defined "success" as going from failure to failure without the loss of enthusiasm. Keep that up, and you'll be so good
at this that your competitors in the job market won't be able to keep up.
